If you like to visit LASM, you will love to volunteer here. Whether it's clerical assistance, help with special events, or leading tours in the art galleries, there are a number of ways to share your talents with us.

Membership
Join LASM and enjoy free or reduced admission and other privileges. Members receive the latest information about LASM’s exhibitions and events.

to behind-the-scenes tours with museum curators

Ways to Support LASM
Many philanthropic individuals, businesses, and corporations help LASM serve visitors with quality programming. You can help support LASM in many ways: become a member, support and attend the annual gala, make a gift to the annual fund, sponsor an exhibition, or special event, or make a planned gift.
LASM Gala
The Annual LASM Gala takes place during the Fall. The Gala is organized by a committee of member volunteers, and includes a lavish buffet provided by area caterers and restaurants, music, and fabulous auction items. Annual Fund
Each year, LASM asks members and friends to make an additional donation to help meet unanticipated expenses, purchase equipment, and augment programming. These gifts, including securities and stock transfers, can be made to the annual fund at any time. Please contact LASM development director Pamela Sills (225) 344-5272, ext. 130 for more information.
Planned Giving: Leave a Legacy
Please consider the benefits of a planned gift both to your estate and to LASM. Your attorney or accountant can suggest a gift such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity, or you may wish to consider a bequest to LASM in your will. Corporate Partnerships
With support from its corporate partners, LASM can reach a broader audience with quality programming. For example, corporate support helps bridge the gap between the high cost of first-rate educational programs and the reduced fees charged to participating school groups from disadvantaged areas. In turn, each level of corporate support from $1,000 to $25,000 brings to corporate partners a variety of benefits and marketing opportunities.
Corporations may choose to sponsor the annual LASM gala or underwrite a First Sunday, a large-format film, an art exhibition, or a specific educational program for youngsters. We will help you identify a specific program that best fits your corporate identity or community outreach objectives. Support the Planetarium - Be A Star!
Be a part of a special donor constellation or sponsor a seat in the planetarium theater.
For $500, $750, or $1000, you can purchase a star - a metal disc with your personal or business name, or the name of a loved one, that will be placed on a beautiful constellation plaque in the planetarium foyer. For $1,500 you can purchase a theater seat that will contain a disk engraved with the name of your choice. Seat dedications will also be displayed on a special plaque in the Universe Gallery. All contributions support planetarium programming.
First Sundays
Every First Sunday of the Month
On the First Sunday of every month, LASM offers free admission to art, children's and planetarium galleries, and reduced admission to special exhibitions and sky shows or large-format films. Hundreds of individuals and family visitors come to enjoy a day of entertaining and educational fun focused on art and science. First Sunday's are sponsored by area business, many who provide take-away items or door prizes to visitors.
