Winter / Spring Exhibition: The Many Phases of Water in Art
January 24 – May 27, 2018
Water is an essential ingredient for human life, as well as for many other lifeforms. Commonly referred to as H2O, this transparent liquid is experienced in different phases ranging from vapor to snow and solid ice. Covering 71% of the Earth’s surface, water plays an important role not only in ecology and the world economy but culture as well, with artists today continuing to be fascinated with the subject of water. This
spring the Art & Science Museum takes a look at some of the myriad ways artists present and interpret water, ranging from social concerns and healing to the depiction of pure beauty. The exhibition interweaves art with life science to help students grasp just how meaningful water can be.
