Major styles in American and European painting from the 18th century through the 21st century are represented. European artists include Charles Amédée-Philippe Vanloo, Jean Victor Bertin, Alexandre-Evariste Fragonard, and Jean-Joseph-Elenore-Antoine Ansiaux. LASM also holds one of the largest collections in the United States of sculptures and drawings by Croatian artist Ivan Meštrović.
American artists of note include Charles Burchfield, Asher B. Durand, Adolph Dehn, John Marin, and Reginald Marsh. Among the contemporary holdings by distinguished American artists are works by Dale Chihuly, Rob Erdel, and Hunt Slonem.
