The Origins of Animation: A Hands-on Exhibit
The Origins of Animation: A Hands-on Exhibit
April 16, 2016 - August 07, 2016
Technology has enabled us to achieve amazing visual effects. Yet, the earliest of animations were simple optical illusions. This display explores various historical and current devices used to achieve the appearance of movement, including the magic lantern, the zoetrope, the thaumatrope, cartoons, and even flipbooks made by local artists. Materials are provided for visitors to make their own animations based on the techniques described.
