Tradition and Innovation in Louisiana Art, 1900-1960, from The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Univers

August 06, 2004 - September 18, 2004

Louisiana’s unique artistic identity in the first half of the 20 th century was informed by outside ideas and influences taken within the context of Louisiana’s own indigenous culture. Demonstrating this were 62 paintings and works on paper by such notable artists as Conrad Albrizio, Knute Heldner, Paul Ninas, Will Henry Stevens, Elsworth Woodward, and others. Organized by LASM Curator Elizabeth Weinstein and David Houston, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, University of New Orleans.
