Planetarium shows begin on the hour; there is no admittance to the theater once a show has begun. Doors open for ticket sales 30 minutes prior to first show of the day.
LASM accepts cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
LASM tries to ensure that our show schedule is as up-to-date as possible, but please remember all shows and showtimes are subject to change. Please note: between 9 am and noon, the planetarium show schedule varies to accomodate educational and group programming.

Planetarium Schedule
LASM is closed on Mondays and on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Mardi Gras, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Secret of the Dragon

Audiences explore the mysteries of the universe from the perspective of two youngsters riding a magical dragon through the universe at great speed. From their perch, the children learn about worlds beyond theirs and a bit about themselves in the process. Secret of the Dragon introduces fundamental astronomical science while remaining entertaining enough for children. This is a wonderful family-oriented show.
Secret of the Dragon is open to all LASM visitors, including those under 3 years of age.
Holiday Music Magic

Holiday Music Magic is a brand new Pennington Planetarium show featuring a variety of festive classics from Mannheim Steamroller, Burl Ives, Brenda Lee and more! The soundtrack is visually enhanced with 3-D artistic animations and all-dome holiday scenery in the audiovisual setting of the Pennington Planetarium. The program is a fun and entertaining experience for all audiences, particularly families.
Holiday Music Magic is open to all LASM visitors, including those under 3 years of age.

TimeSpace is a new show that turns the Pennington Planetarium's theater into a time machine! Audiences travel across the Universe through 13 billion years to experience the Big Bang, the doom of the dinosaurs, the sudden appearance of Halley's Comet in the Yucatán Sky, Apollo 11's moon landing, and a leap into the future to 3001. A brief tour of the seasonal night sky and constellation identification is included.

Join us on a journey in search of the celestial object that led the wise men to the Christ Child. Along the way, you will learn who the wise men were, what they knew about the night sky and where they came from. Using the planetarium's digital starfield, we can re-create the night sky of 2,000 years ago to see exactly what they saw long ago. A brief tour of the seasonal night sky and constellation identification is included.

Learn about the night sky as never before. Using the world's most extensive,
accurate three-dimensional mapping of the universe, the planetarium's
new digital software takes the audience on a magic carpet ride through
the night sky for an up close encounter of the planets of our solar system
and beyond, through the stars of our Milky Way Galaxy, past distant galaxies,
and to the edge of our known observable universe. A brief tour of the
seasonal night sky and constellation identification is included.

Hurricane on the Bayou
Large-Format Film

A powerfully moving large format film unlike any other, Hurricane
on the Bayou takes audiences on a journey deep into the soul-stirring
heart of Louisiana before, during and after the unprecedented devastation
of Hurricane Katrina. Cameras follow a group of four musicians, both legendary
and rising, as they explore the electrifying culture of New Orleans; speed
through the beautiful, alligator-filled bayous on airboats; recount their
heart-wrenching, personal stories of Katrina; and bring the focus to the
rapidly disappearing wetlands that are New Orleans’ first line of defense
against deadly storms. Vanishing at an astonishing rate of one acre every
38 minutes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, the wealth, cultural
vitality and future of New Orleans depend on the preservation of these
wetlands.

Coral Reef Adventure

Enter the extraordinary worlds of the largest, most beautiful and most endangered coral reefs on our planet. Coral Reef Adventure tells of the courageous expedition of the dedicated husband-and-wife team Howard and Michele Hall. The couple have risked their lives to take us to powerful and unimaginably beautiful environments such as Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the majestic islands of Fiji and Tahiti and the mysterious Rangiroa atoll.

Visual Music Show

This new, much-anticipated, music entertainment show featuring one of the greatest bands of the last two decades. U2 is the first ever full-dome production featuring U2’s timeless classics and modern hits, set to lighting and animation effects using the latest in CGI technology. Sunday Bloody Sunday, Vertigo and With or Without You are just a few of the tracks in this 44 minute, one-of-a-kind experience.
