Beginning December 6, 2008 20-minute guided tours will be offered each Saturday in the following areas: Ancient Egypt Gallery at 11:00 AM, Solar System Gallery at 1:00 PM, and Art Galleries at 3:00 PM.
First Sundays
Every First Sunday of the Month
On the First Sunday of every month, LASM offers free admission to art, children's and planetarium galleries, and reduced admission to special exhibitions and sky shows or large-format films. Please come and visit us and see all that LASM has to offer!
North Boulevard Festival of Lights Celebration
Friday, December 5, 5:00 - 9:00 PM
When you come downtown for the "lighting of the trees" on Friday, December 5, stop in at LASM for a variety of activities. At 5:00, 7:00, and 8:00 PM, the seasonal classic Holiday Music Magic will be shown on the planetarium dome, featuring the music of Mannheim Steamroller, Brenda Lee, Burl Ives, and others (children 4 and under may attend this lively planetarium show). The Red Stick Ringers, a handbell choir, will be playing soft, tinkling holiday music in the atrium, and the Museum Store at LASM will be open with lots of tempting merchandise at a special 10 percent discount! Admission is free with the donation of a new toy that benefits Toys for Tots (you can purchase your toy in the Museum Store). Don’t miss the fun!
Annual Holiday Ornament Workshop
Sunday, December 7, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Kids and their favorite adults make memories together in the Discovery Depot Workshop, creating holiday ornaments that are sure to become family keepsakes. As a special treat, Santa and the Coca-Cola Christmas truck will be at LASM from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. First Sunday will be sponsored by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola.
Target Saturday! A Morning of Family Fun with Art and Science

FREE WITH REGULAR MUSEUM ADMISSION
No registration is required for this terrific program for children ages
5–12 who are accompanied by an adult. Enjoy a full schedule of activities
that will include the live auditorium program Colors of the Rainbow,
presented by the LASM Science Education Department, plus a guided tour
of the art exhibition Ida Kohlmeyer: Standing Among Giants, and
a creative art activity in the studio classroom. Note:
There will be no late admissions, so please arrive promptly. Sponsored
