Teacher Workshop: The Year of the Solar System
Friday, January 14, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM
The period from October 2010 to August 2012 will be remembered as a golden age of planetary exploration! During those 23 months (or one Martian year), NASA plans an unprecedented amount of solar system exploration focusing on Mercury, Mars, and the dwarf planets.
Join us in the planetarium for an exciting, informative workshop for elementary and middle school teachers. Solar System Ambassador* and Mercury Messenger fellow Cathy Williamson, and Solar System Ambassador and New Horizon fellow Linda Gautier, along with LASM’s planetarium educators , will share the amazing facts revealed by the NASA exploration. Take-home, hands-on activities will help you to integrate math, science, social studies, and language arts.
Fee: $25, includes lunch and workshop supplies.
Registration deadline: December 17, 2010
Teachers will earn CLU’s by turning in a certificate of participation to their school.
