Fritz Bultman: An American Abstractionist

Fritz Bultman: An American Abstractionist

October 18, 2013 - January 04, 2014

New Orleans native Fritz Bultman (1919-1985) took part in a seminal moment in American art – the emergence of Abstract Expressionism in New York during the 1940s and 50s. Featuring paintings, sculptures, collages and even stained glass, this exhibition took a fresh look at Bultman’s life and the influence that several major art world figures and friends, among them Hans Hoffman, Robert Motherwell, Tony Smith, and Henri Matisse, had upon the development of Bultman’s personal style.
