Free First Sunday “Star Wars Day at LASM: May the Fourth Be With You”

Get ready for an out-of-this-world experience as the Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) celebrates Star Wars Day and Astronomy Day on Sunday, May 4th, from 1 PM to 5 PM with Star Wars Day at LASM: May the Fourth Be With You. Thanks to the generous support of co-sponsors Arkel Constructors and The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, this exciting, family-friendly event is free to the public as part of the Free First Sunday program. The day will be filled with fun activities for all ages, including hands-on Star Wars-themed crafts and activities, astronomy shows at the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium for a reduced price of $5, demonstrations from the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society, and much more.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars characters and enjoy a full day of cosmic fun. The event will feature a variety of interactive experiences, including exciting demonstrations from the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society and NASA Solar System Ambassador Linda Gauthier.
A major highlight of the event will be the 2 PM showing of Star Wars: The Worlds Within in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium, an exciting astronomy-themed show that explores the real science behind the Star Wars universe and the wonders of space. Guests will discover the real-world counterparts to iconic Star Wars destinations like Coruscant, Naboo, Tatooine, and Hoth.
For younger fans, there will be Literacy with Leia, a special storytime event at 1:45 PM and 3:45 PM in the museum’s Zeiss Gallery. Children will have the chance to listen to captivating tales with a Star Wars twist, led by the beloved Princess Leia.
