Exhibitions On View
This year’s Gala invites guests to experience the extraordinary creativity, culture, and natural beauty of Louisiana through three distinctive exhibitions on view at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum.
Preserving Paradise, presented in the Republic Finance Gallery, is the featured exhibition of the evening. This stunning photography exhibition by acclaimed Louisiana nature photographer C.C. Lockwood captures the remarkable beauty and fragile ecosystems of Louisiana’s natural landscape. Through Lockwood’s compelling photographs, guests are invited to see the state’s wild places and wildlife through the lens of an artist whose work has long celebrated and documented Louisiana’s natural treasures. The exhibition serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving the places that make Louisiana so extraordinary.
Also debuting in 2026 is Off the Wall: Louisiana Untamed, a curated exhibition celebrating the creativity and spirit of Louisiana artists. Featuring original works by acclaimed artists including Kevin Rabalais, Malaika Favorite, Ellen Ogden, Randell Henry, and others, the exhibition explores the distinctive character and identity of Louisiana through the eyes of its artists. The collection premieres Saturday, August 15, and will be offered through an exclusive, invitation-only auction benefiting LASM. Following the auction, the artworks will remain on view throughout the Gala, giving guests the opportunity to experience this dynamic collection while celebrating the talent of artists connected to our state.
Guests will also have exclusive access to Reflections: The Art of George Rodrigue, showcasing iconic works by one of Louisiana’s most celebrated artists. Best known for his beloved Blue Dog series, Rodrigue created a body of work deeply rooted in the landscapes, traditions, and culture of his home state. The exhibition offers guests an opportunity to explore the enduring legacy of an artist whose work has become an iconic part of Louisiana’s visual identity.
Together, these exhibitions offer three distinct perspectives on Louisiana: its extraordinary natural environment, its vibrant contemporary artists, and its enduring cultural legacy. From C.C. Lockwood’s celebration of the state’s wild places, to the contemporary voices featured in Louisiana Untamed, to George Rodrigue’s iconic vision of home, the exhibitions provide a rich and immersive experience of Louisiana Untamed.
Why Support LASM?
"LASM is a bridge between curiosity and knowledge for the thousands of visitors who walk through its doors each year. Seeing the impact of their STEAM initiatives firsthand reminds me why community support is so vital. We aren't just funding exhibits… We are investing in the next generation of Louisiana’s thinkers and creators."
- Darian Graivshark, LASM’S 41st Annual Gala Co-Chair
"My love of art, history, and science began in museums, where childhood visits sparked a lasting sense of wonder and ultimately shaped my career. Those early moments of discovery stayed with me and continue to influence how I see the world today. LASM carries that same spirit—bringing extraordinary exhibitions and educational experiences to our community and inspiring the next generation through curiosity and creativity."
